Sigma Alpha Mu, Delta Omega chapter has a variety of philanthropic endeavors.
Every spring we throw a fundraiser for our national philanthropy,
The Judy Fund. This event involves a large barbecue, lawn games like Kan-jam and corn-hole, and pie-ing brothers in the face.
Every Fall we run an event called polesit. Pole sit raises money for our local philanthropy, The
Make-A-Wish foundation. Pole sit involves a Telephone pole placed by the dorms on campus with a box on top. 24 hours a day for 4 days straight there is always a brother in the box on top of the pole(except when Public safety makes us come down because of lightning). Also at pole sit is a make shift wishing well for people to throw donations, t-shirt sales, a band, fireworks, and a daily barbecue.
On a more regular basis, Sam delta omega tutors kids in the city once a week. We meet them at a community center and help with studying and homework.
We also try to hold a can drive to benefit
food link every quarter. This is simply because, it helps the greater Rochester area and is an easy way to make a big difference to a lot of people.
